Song Of Songs 1:15 (KJV)

The Lover in these verses admires His beloved for her spiritual perception. Here, in this painting, the searching gaze of her eyes challenges the viewer to receive the Spirit as it is released by God through her, the betrothed church. In the background, camouflaged, is a hawk, a predator. Though he would try to thwart God's purposes, he is held at bay by the power of the Spirit and the intercession of the church.
